A hot winter's day in Sawtell

Capacity crowds, wonderful weather and sizzling food and entertainment– they all made the Sawtell Chilli Festival a big hit on Saturday. The massive community response and the hard work of many volunteers contributed to the vibrant atmosphere in 1st Avenue.

Festival co-ordinator Ruth Anne Triebner said it had been a huge day for all concerned, catering for the tastes of the thousands who turned out. “The weather certainly put on a good show for us. The street was packed all day,” Mrs Triebner said.

Launch of New Chilli Sauce

Coffs Coast Event Catering, your local chilli makers already famous for their LEDGEND chilli sauce made for 100% pure habeneros are launching their new even HOTTER chilli sauce at the 2010 Sawtell Chilli Festival.

This chilli sauce is a mix of the world’s hottest chilli from India the Naga Jolokia and the habenero and is guaranteed to have even the manliest man on his knees.

ONLY 100 bottles will be released for sale at the launch so if you want some get in early to avoid disappointment.

Coffs Coast Event Catering is running a competition to name the new sauce. All you have to do is try the sauce on the day, then fill in an entry form with your idea of what you think the sauce should be called. The winner will receives a year’s supply of chilli sauce FREE.

Sawtell, Boulevard of Dreams

Daniel Scott, writing in today's Syndey Morning Herald, says "A survey last year by the University of New England, which assessed a raft of important amenities, proclaimed it the most desirable place to move to in NSW. If I had to envisage my ideal coastal town, Sawtell would come close to fitting the bill."

Cooinda Gallery Behind 2010 Sawtell Chilli Festival Fundraiser

Julia Johnston from Cooinda Gallery, First Avenue Sawtell has generously donated a Lorna Fencer Naprualla painting to raise funds for the 2010 Sawtell Chilli Festival. The painted valued at $1600 dollars will raise funds through a limited number of ticketed sales. Tickets are $20.00 each with a limit of 100 tickets sold, available at Cooinda Gallery.

The winner will be drawn at the Chilli Festival Latin Dance Party, July 3rd 8-12 in the Sawtell RSL Princess Room.

2010 Exhibitor Sites Now Full!

All stalls are booked out. This year's Chilli Festival will offer some old and some new. Many vendors from previous years will be here along with many new vendors making their first journey to beautiful Sawtell - some from as far as Perth!

Hot Chilli Festival Competitions - register now!

The online form for the Sawtell Chilli Festival Competitions including the Hat Parade, Fancy Dress and Chilli Eating Competitions is back online and waiting for you to register!  This year there won't be a Chilli Cook-off but there will be two awesome chilli cooking demonstrations by masters of the hot stuff.
